Name Visible on Login Prem Name Visible on Login - After living in the United States for 20 odd years for tertiary studies and Postdoctoral Fellowship, I am currently an Assistant Professor at National University of Singapore. I have a passion for research especially when I am trying to solve a problem or figuring out how things work. Such motivation actually drives me. Failure does not deter me. I would describe myself as someone who is confident, witty, good natured, talkative and definitely with a good sense of humour. I am quite playful and at times do not act my age but that's just my personality. I make friends very easily. I believe in "work hard and play hard". As far as other interests, I read a lot (science and non science), sports, camping, hiking, strolls along the beach, movies, and dining out. I like variety in life. Doing the same thing over and over again will drive me nuts. Last but not least I love dancing. Hip-hop and Salsa are my favourites but pretty much any... more kind of music, even bangra, except country and western.
I am a strong advocate of volunteering. I am an active volunteer with SINDA (Singapore Indian Development Association) assisting in Project Read and Back to School Programmes. Project Read aims to give children a better start in school by equipping them with basic English reading skills, as well as inculcating the reading habit in them at an early age. I recently succeeded in cultivating this habit in a 6 year old and currently assigned to two children under Back to School Programme.
With the changing pattern of the membership and the varying aspirations of the Malayalee community here in Singapore, the Singapore Kerala Association needed to revisit the underlying issues of the community. I am actively involved in achieving the Association's objectives with a team of Malayalee doctors, lawyers, and businessmen, not only to benefit the Malayalee community but also the Singapore society as a whole.
On fortnight Fridays, I participate at MP's (Minister of Parliament) meet-the-people sessions. Objective is to listen and provide expert opinion to the people and drafting letters for the MP to assist the community in every which way we could.
I am currently in the midst of discussing with representatives from Ralvin Center of Therapy, Wisma Mendaki, UNIFEM Singapore, and the Hindu Endowment Board on how I could largely contribute to the community.
I believe a good sense of humour is essential for getting through life successfully, makes it more fun and the tough times easier. You can make your partner laugh, and lift your spirits. As far as caring goes, it is someone who asks for and listens to your opinions and feelings and better yet who remembers what you say and builds on it later, in other words, someone you can communicate with and more likely be able to form a partnership with you. My better half should not only listen to my words and responds but also has ideas and opinions. And yes there will be ups and downs in a married life but the most important quality which determines whether a relationship can succeed is how well the couple solves problems.... working together towards a solution. We are all unique and different in our own ways and therefore will perceive things very differently, that's where compromise comes in. I think these are important aspects in a marriage partnership.
I have a great respect for women, especially, the ones who are very hard-working, confident and independent. I like a woman who is not afraid to voice her opinions even if she is right or wrong, more so when she is right. A woman who will not take "crap" from anyone will certainly gets my attention. I'm sorry but I don't go well with the shy ones. I'm quite "dressy". So a woman who knows her clothes will be a plus, otherwise, I might have to take you shopping and change your wardrobe.
