After emailing each other for a week or two, we started to talk quite frequently on skype. She is studying in the Cayman Islands -- I am in Boston. We talked for a month before meeting in Chicago when she came home for break. The first couple of days were slightly awkward, but soon after we broke through the initial nervousness and began talking like we had been on skype.
